Nanshan
Nanshan District is an administrative district of Shenzhen, Guangdong Province, located in the central-western part of the city. It borders Futian District to the east, Bao’an District to the west and north, and overlooks Hong Kong’s Yuen Long District across Shenzhen Bay to the southeast. To the southwest, it faces Zhuhai and Macau across the Pearl River Estuary. Nanshan administers the former Nantou and Shekou districts.
As of the end of 2022, the district had a permanent population of 1.81 million and a land area of 185.30 square kilometers (as of July 2023). The district features peninsula and coastal bay landscapes, with mainly plains and terraces, alongside some hilly areas.
Located on the shores of the South China Sea, Nanshan enjoys a subtropical maritime monsoon climate, rich in biodiversity and abundant water resources. In 2022, Nanshan District’s GDP reached 803.59 billion RMB, making it one of Shenzhen’s most economically significant and rapidly developing areas. 🚀
