Longhua District Launches Electronic Prescription Transfer Service in 107 Community Clinics

Shenzhen, March 2025 – Longhua District has successfully launched an electronic prescription transfer service across 107 community health centers, marking a significant step toward digitalizing medical services. Recently, the Minzhi Subdistrict Community Health Center issued the city’s first-ever community healthcare electronic prescription covered by medical insurance, pioneering a new model for prescription management.

This service operates on China’s national unified medical insurance information platform, integrating the electronic prescription center function. By connecting medical insurance agencies, healthcare institutions, and designated retail pharmacies, it enables digital transmission of external prescriptions from community health centers to designated pharmacies for outpatient special disease treatment (including general outpatient reimbursement and “dual-channel” pharmacies). This eliminates the need for paper prescriptions, streamlining the prescription fulfillment process for insured patients.

The electronic prescription transfer system offers multiple advantages:

  • Convenience: Patients can collect prescribed medications at their chosen designated pharmacy without revisiting the clinic.
  • Efficiency: Digital transmission reduces waiting time and improves prescription accuracy.
  • Enhanced oversight: The platform ensures real-time tracking of prescriptions, promoting safe and transparent medication distribution.

The Longhua District Health Bureau aims to expand the system further, improving accessibility, efficiency, and convenience for patients. This initiative aligns with Shenzhen’s smart healthcare strategy, fostering a seamless, tech-driven medical experience for residents.
