To better serve the influx of tourists and local visitors during the summer season, Shenzhen Museum has announced extended opening hours at select venues from July 1 to August 31, 2025. The initiative aims to create more opportunities for residents and travelers to explore the city’s rich historical and cultural collections.
During this period, the Jintian Road Hall—dedicated to local history and folk culture—and the Tongxin Road Hall, which showcases ancient art, will be open from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, Tuesday through Sunday. The last admission will be at 7:30 PM. Visitors can enjoy additional evening hours to accommodate work schedules and peak travel periods.
The Shenzhen Reform and Opening-Up Exhibition Hall and the Dongjiang Guerrilla Command Site Memorial will maintain their usual hours, operating Tuesday through Sunday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. All four museum sites will remain closed on Mondays for routine maintenance and exhibition upkeep.
Unlike previous seasons when advance reservations were required, this summer, entry will be streamlined: visitors need only complete a standard security check before entering, with no need to pre-book tickets online. However, museum officials strongly advise guests to plan their visits thoughtfully and avoid the busiest times of day, as summer crowds are expected to reach record levels.
To protect visitor safety and ensure a comfortable experience, each venue will implement real-time monitoring of visitor capacity. If the number of people inside any museum approaches the facility’s designated maximum occupancy, staff will introduce temporary crowd-control measures, pausing entry until the flow of visitors decreases.
The maximum instantaneous capacity for each site is as follows:
- Jintian Road Hall: 2,000 visitors
- Tongxin Road Hall: 1,500 visitors
- Shenzhen Reform and Opening-Up Exhibition Hall: 3,000 visitors
- Dongjiang Guerrilla Command Site Memorial: 100 visitors
When these limits are reached, staff will temporarily restrict entry and ask incoming guests to queue patiently outside until space becomes available. Museum management emphasized that these measures are essential for maintaining public safety and protecting the integrity of the exhibits.
This year’s extended hours reflect Shenzhen Museum’s ongoing commitment to public education and cultural engagement.
